Did you grow up with ambitions like being a doctor, a fireman, or an engineer? “This one cannot, that one cannot, you must study hard if not you’ll be a chicken rice seller” or some random power statement you faced while growing up?
Growing up as an Asian, respect is without a doubt the most important value in the family. That and not being a disgrace (to the family) is by far the most demanding thing my parents taught me as a kid.
Life was tough growing up in a foreign country far from home, but looking back, I gotta say it was totally worth it.
